Moving Violations

In the State of New Jersey, most moving or traffic violations carry points. These points are assessed against your driver’s license. If a driver accumulates too many points, the Motor Vehicle Commission can administratively suspend your driving privileges. In addition, accumulation of points can have a drastic effect on your insurance premiums. The following is a list of offenses for which points are issued in New Jersey:

In addition to these penalties, the New Jersey State Police that patrol the New Jersey Parkway, New Jersey Turnpike, and Atlantic City Expressway are authorized to issue tickets on these roads under N.J.S.A. 27. These offenses carry the same points that their equivalent offenses would under N.J.S.A. 39.
